I had never heard of this show then bam my life changed forever
Normally, I depend on cable TV or On Demand to view Adult Swim programming. But now I know the full extent of cable's damned-ed-ness and the spurious betrayal of myself and my right to laugh. I had never heard of this show, never even seen its name one time. Anyway, one night not that long ago I was about to give up on finding something to watch. I had long given up on finding anything on cable and switched over to Hulu, then Netflix then oh, alright, Amazon Prime because Prime streaming is free (if I pay 8 bucks a month to MAKE it free). Is it just me or is the free stuff never that great? Over to the pay stuff. Hello, what's this? I squint at the thumbnail of a shadowy, longhaired, bearded...caveman? Are those claws? Is that Patton Oswalt? Why does he look so dirty? What is this? Why is it included under the Horror genre? I watched a free preview of the 1st episode and immediately paid to watch the full show. I recommend you do the same.
If it makes sense to you, check yourself into an asylum
It's crazy that I'm only the 2nd (so far) person to write a review for this.
Not since that one time I did acid did the world seem so strange. Wait... have I ever done acid or did I just think that I did during that one drug trip? Anyways, this is avant-garde comedy at it's finest, going well beyond anything adult swim has attempted before. The name itself is brilliant and so deliciously white trash. "The Heart, She Holler", a play on words for the name of the family, Heartshe, and the redneck term "holler" which stands for small valley, as in the location of the town.
In a nutshell (if you've watched the show, you're welcome for that one) the show is about a long-lost son who returns to claim his birthright which is caught with backlash by his two sisters. The true scope of the show though, in my opinion, can't be summed up in words-- at least not with my vocabulary. The show beautifully twists and turns from making fun of country folk, to horror, to dark...
creepy
A really funny take on surreal, bizarre soap operas. The cast are all incredibly funny and you probably won't see anything as weird or creepy on tv.
